Bike to Work Week Events

May 31- June 6, 2010

The 16th annual Bike to Work Week is being held May 31- June 6 2010 in Victoria to coincide with events across British Columbia. This change should also let our riders enjoy better weather as they try out their commute by bicycle.

Check out this link for a detailed schedule and map.
You can also download posters, Team Leader information and lots more!

Celebration stations are exactly what they sound like – a "celebration" of cycling and the health, wellness and fun benefits that go along with it.

Every day during Bike to Work Week, Victoria celebration stations will be held in strategic locations throughout Greater Victoria.

Each station includes:

  • Free food and refreshment
  • A local bike mechanic
  • Prize ballots
  • Treats provided by sponsors
  • Fun!

This year we have have stations in Sidney, Saanich, Camosun, Oak Bay. View Royal, Colwood and Esquimalt, as well as our usual Downtown locations.  We have 19 celebration stations in 2010! This will make the Bike to Work Week festivities available to a greater part of the community.

Some of the most exciting events to watch out for are:

Kick-off Trailside Breakfast : Monday May 31 6:45-8:45am

South end of the Selkirk Trestle. Join us for fresh coffee from STARBUCKS, baked goods from COBBS BREAD and organic fruit courtesy of our local sponsors.

Commuter Challenge - the thrilling Car vs Bike Race : Tuesday June 1

Join us at the the Bay Centre View Street Entrance!

Simple yet powerful! This friendly "race" requires a cyclist and car driver to begin from a common point and aim to arrive at the Bay Centre between 7:30–8:30am.  Participants must follow all rules of the road, legally park and pre-register. FREE COFFEE from Starbucks.

FREE Mid-Week BBQ @ CFB Esquimalt:
Wednesday, June 2  - 3- 6pm

LOCATED at  THE ADMIRALS AND COLVILLE INTERSECTION
Join CFB Esquimalt’s Base Commander Captain Hallé for FREE Burgers and refreshments!

Capital Iron will be there to show off their prize of a swanky new DELUXE BBQ, so don’t forget to enter to win!

Everyone Welcome!

The Bay Centre Celebration Station : Thursday June 3
3:30- 6pm

Meet us at Centre Court inside The Bay Centre. We’ll be there with food, refreshments and secure bike parking for all!

There will be great deals offered by participating retail stores! Grab your voucher and shop! Great prizes too!

Wrap-up BBQ:  Friday June 4 - FREE!

Join us at the North end of the Selkirk Trestle. Enjoy tasty meat and veggie burgers and top it off with melted cheese generously supplied by our sponsor Save-on-Foods!

Bring a friend, family or the whole workplace team. This final celebration is a fantastic ending to a tremendous week of events.

Bike to Work Day—October 2010

For regular commuter cyclists and for those who get started during Bike to Work Week, Bike to Work Day is a great milestone to aim for. Once again we held two fun stations with plenty of great coffee and goodies!  Keep those wheels turning for a Bike to Work Year!
