June 26, 2012 Update: Grand Prize Winner Announced!
2012 was a Heck-of-a-Ride!

One Heck Of A Ride!
Final numbers are in from this year’s Bike To Work Week event (May 28 to June 3, 2012), and the coordinators are overjoyed. “What a great week. The number of teams was up 48% over last year and the number of riders was up 75%! Way to go everyone!” said James Gordon, one of the coordinators. “We’re delighted,” said Marcia Dick, the other coordinator. “We ended up with 527 riders and 108 teams—which surpassed our goal of 100 teams. We had over 40 sponsors who really showed amazing support with tons of great prizes, cash and in-kind donations. And we really lucked out with the weather! It was really a win-win-win all around.”
Gordon and Dick credit the solid backing from the City of Kamloops, the Province of BC, and a dedicated, hard-working and fun-loving volunteer committee for putting on such a great event. They are also very grateful to all of the team-leaders who organized their teams and logged all of the kilometers their team-mates rode.
“It’s really about the riders, though” said Gordon. “It’s about deciding to get on your bike and ride to work. And once you do, then you realize how good it feels; and it’s great for the environment too. Good for your health and the planet’s health. The trick now is to keep going all summer. Keep on riding everyone!”
