National Household Survey
Bike to Work BC encourages you to fill out the Census that provides important information about modes of transport to work!
The census and the National Household Survey (NHS) provide a detailed portrait of Canadian society and communities depend on the data when planning for schools, police and fire services, roads and public transportation and much more.
The 2011 NHS includes questions on place of work and mode of transportation to work. Urban and transportation planners combine the data on mode of transportation with the data on place of work to analyze commuting patterns, public transit needs and energy use. This information is also used to study traffic congestion, assess usage and plan changes to the transportation system by investigating such things as public transit, carpooling programs and bike lanes.
